Invisalign

Aligners — possibilities and limits.

In brief

Invisalign is an aligner system: transparent, removable trays that are changed every 1–2 weeks. It suits mild to moderate misalignments in adults and disciplined teenagers. Minimum wear time: 20–22 hours a day. Cost in Switzerland: from CHF 5,200, depending on complexity and duration.

Context

Invisalign is a genuine alternative to the classic brace — but not the best option for every case. Here you'll learn when aligners work, when they don't, and what to watch out for.

01

How aligners work

The movements are planned on the computer before treatment starts. You see a 3D simulation of the end result before the first tray is produced. On average 20–40 trays, each worn for 1–2 weeks.

02

When Invisalign works

Crowding, spacing, mild rotations, minor bite corrections. For complex misalignments, severe rotations or cases needing auxiliaries, fixed treatment remains superior.

03

Wear discipline decides

Aligners only work when they are worn. Under 20 hours a day and movements fall behind — over 22 hours brings no advantage. Being honest with yourself is the prerequisite.

Frequently asked

Answered
straight up.

What is the difference to other aligners?

Invisalign is the most widely used brand and has the largest clinical evidence base. Other systems (Spark, ClearCorrect) are technically similar, with smaller differences in material and software.

Can I eat normally during treatment?

Yes — the aligners are taken out for eating and brushing. After that they are worn 20–22 hours a day.

Do I get to see the result in advance?

Yes. Before treatment starts we show you a 3D simulation visualising the expected end result.
